PRIVATE CONSULT: To Be 'Hip' from the Pulpit Or Not To Be, It's All In The Story:
Interactive Storytelling Techniques for Clergy
Professional Storyteller (of 20 years) Eva Grayzel shares her secrets about interactive, hands-on techniques for reading and
telling stories. Create the 'illustration' using congregants. When stories spontaneously include everyone, they are memorable
(even for months!) and belly laughs are guaranteed. Rabbi Peter Berg, Ridgewood NJ, claims that after one training session
with Eva on High Holiday stories, two unaffiliated families joined his congregation, admitting it was the way he told stories
that hooked them. "After working with Eva, I have set a standard at my congregation, and they await the hour of my story.
It better be good, so I call Eva!" Bring the stories you want to work on.
Bio:
Eva Grayzel is a performance artist specializing in Jewish Folklore. Her uniquely interactive performances have
brought her to the 92nd St. Y, Jewish Arts Festival Houston, Temple Emanuel Honolulu, The Jewish Museum NYC, Israeli
Independence Day Parade Philadelphia, Disney, Crayola, and Kidz TV. Eva is the resident storyteller for the Allentown
Symphony Orchestra's Children's Series. She is on the UJC Speakers Bureau, tutors Bnai Mitzvah, leads HH services for
young families, and travels as a scholar-in-residence to many Jewish communities across the country.
After recovering from a life-threatening illness, Eva's work expanded with Bikkur Cholim and Parent workshops,
guided by her mission to share all the profound knowledge she acquired while battling stage 4 oral cancer - ironic for a
storyteller! She lectures at dental schools about her story, making a connection between their work and their heart.
Her award-winning material has been published and recorded. She has produced two storytelling recordings 'A
Story A Day' and 'Absolute Chanukah'. Her original 'raps' have been published in 'Chosen Tales'. And, Eva co-produced,
and stars in a Jewish Holiday storytelling video "The Secret In Bubbe's Attic."
